A great introduction to this construction toy
My 7-year-old daughter loves this tub of K’nex, and has now foresworn her LEGOs. 400 pieces does not go as far as you might expect, however; you may find yourself shopping for an expansion set soon.

LEGO:

Many hours of fun
I bought this set along with another set. I think it wouldn’t be as much fun without more sets together. I bought them for my nephews to play with when they stay with me. My 8 year old nephew really loves them. He would spend all of his time building different contraptions if we let him. He loves to show them off and have us take a picture of him with it. My 11 year old nephew just wants to play video games. With a little encouragement, he did start to build “Cars” and want to take pictures. The hardest part is getting them to take them apart for next time. They always want to save them. There are a lot of different types of pieces and shapes, but often they want more of one type of piece that they used up. I also wouldn’t get a set because of what the directions will help them build. My nephews just want to think it up themselves. I would get sets that have the most pieces. There is also a problem with small pieces rolling away and the dog getting a hold of them. I would only get this if you have a good place for them to play with a lot of small pieces that roll easily. They had a lot of fun when they discovered the small motor also.

Makes a great gift
All who have received this from us have been pleased, as our own has been with his. Some of it works well with Lego too.

Fun, but not perfect
My sons, 5 and 2 1/2, love the trick tracks. The only problem I have is that when a car is released from the hammer trick to the spin wrecker, sometimes the car doesn’t hit hard enough to activate the spin wrecker itself. It needs a little nudge. Aside from that, my kids get a kick out it. They love watching the spin wrecker spin itself down, knock the cars off and send the one car flying aross the floor. The younger one needs a little help setting it up, but he is getting pretty good at it. I think it is a lot of fun.

My son loves it!
My 6yr old LOVES trick tracks and has almost the entire set. He just added this one to his collection and it has not disappointed. The configurations he comes up with by adding all the tracks together are amazing and usually take up the entire family room floor. I believe this has a decent educational value only because of the thought process it takes to put everything all together to make it work when using multiple tracks.
