Not Bad.
This was my first Mega Bloks Halo Wars set, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting much. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of MB and I like Halo, but I’d heard some pretty bad reviews. Honestly, I bought it to get my hands on the figures – which turned out to be very well done and highly pose-able. Not thrilled with the over-sized shotguns, but I was able to fix that easily with a little mod work. Having bought the thing, I decided I should at least put the turret together and see how it worked – and I was pleasantly surprised. It went together easily with only one minor issue – the side shields are attached early in the build (for no good reason) and get in the way. Naturally, they pop off throughout the build. When attached at the end, they are fairly stable, but will pop off. I put in a little tissue to tighten the clutch and they were rock solid. Same with the guns, which do tend to be a bit loose. In the end, my only real gripe with this set was that there isn’t an interface between the figure and the weapon. He sits in the chair and has no handles to grab. If you build it as per the instructions, he can’t even touch the control panel. Easy to fix with a little creativity and a few spare bricks, but somewhat annoying. Overall, though, this is a nice model with some excellent figures.

A terrific model!
This is a great little set and a very good introduction to Mega Brands’ Halo Wars product line. The design is pretty simple overall, using a nice assortment of basic bricks rather than specialized, single-use elements. The colors are excellent–really good representations of Halo colors, and frankly it just looks great.

The turret itself features four laser cannons and a seat for the gunner. In addition, the turret swivels and elevates to provide a 360-degree arc of fire–enough to keep even the most stubborn Covenant forces at bay!

My favorite part is that the UNSC Turret includes three Spartan figures, so that this is a good set for starting to build your army! The figures are remarkably detailed and great representations of Spartans.

A fine set from start to finish. I already own three and plan to purchase at least two more.

A little tricky to build but too much fun to play with
Mega Blok Halo Wars Warthog is an irresistible package on the shelf. Having heard someone reference “LEGO” Halo in line at Legoland I thought the man daft- but sure enough before my eyes was a version of one the coolest vehicles in gaming history with 2 UNSC Soldiers w/ SMGs and an elite Covenant warrior w/ beam rifle and plasma turret. Building this set can actually be a little frustrating I was set on letting my son put it together, but the chassis and middle build have alot of precise counted clicks and you will be rebuilding if you don’t do this.
It still took me two tries to get the pieces to gel, the directions on the turret are misleading (you need a space between the two L bricks to make it work which the manual leaves out). This set is very satisfying once constructed, I recommend gluing the cannon on the Warthog’s machine gun and the light blasters on the turret for durable play. Everything is a dream come true play wise, the figures are terrific in their movement and posability, and their weapons are perfect for the scale. The tow hooks on front are bound to be lost and should have attached with little ropes. I also found the machine gun better not attached to its gray plate but moved back in the trunk where your figures can swing on its rotating axis without the whole thing falling off. There were a few extra pieces which are easily used to strengthen the build or modify your WH a bit.
The other sets look good in this line as well, but for my tastes this is one is the coolest and the best value.

dont be so harsh
I have been a huge lego fan for years. I am going to start out by saying that mega bloks are not lego quality. With that said, even the most devout lego enthusiast has to admit that the quality of lego products has diminished greatly in the last few year. I have especially noticed this with the star wars series. This is the first set I have put together of the halo series and I have to say I do not agree with the bashing of quality or the negative comparison to lego. This set came with an alternate instruction sheet and extra parts to give the set some extra stability (mainly with the wing section which has been talked about in a previous review, I don’t think they used the amended instruction sheet). I consider these, quality wise, to be just under that of any lego space set. I have several star wars sets and you cant play with those either due to them falling apart. So to finish up, these are awesome for any collector and look very cool when put together. The mini figs are great and have several points of articulation. Another plus is that the retail price of a mega bloks set is half that of a lego set of equal piece value. Barely less quality for half the price. Sounds good to me. Plus…come on…its Halo.
